IPL 2010

The third edition of Indian Premier League is just a few months away and already people have started going crazy. The auction for players on January 19th was followed by people with utmost interest on Internet and television, suggesting cricket crazy India is ready for the third edition.

The first edition was a run away hit and the second edition was unfortunately not held in India due to government elections clashing at the same time. It was held in South Africa and many thought it would not bring the same amount of success, but proved everyone wrong as South African public gave a thumbs up and it was a hit as well. The third edition is back to India.

All the 8 franchisees have started planning well in advance by formulating a team strategy that suits their team. Even the franchises are coming to terms with this new version of the game. They must have had less knowledge about the game during the inaugural season but would have known somewhat about the game and their own team.

The auction of players for 2010 edition has just concluded and as expected West Indian Keiron Pollard was the hottest buy along with Kiwi fast bowler Shane Bond. Thanks to last years champions league in India, Keiron Pollard has just become a millionaire. Most of the teams wanted him to be a part their team and in the end Mumbai Indians bought him for a record sum.

Come this March and April, talk of the town in India and around the world would be certainly the Indian Premier League. The players themselves must be quite excited to play in front of packed crowds where that is becoming a rarity even for international games.

Just to remind you the champions in the first edition were Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers from Hyderabad lifted last years crown. So who will it be this time? We will have the answer on the night of April 25.

Come lets enjoy the carnival of cricket!!!
